It’s long been a relationship that goes hand in hand, beer and food. The entire team were excited when we decided to explore this a little further, are you intrigued yet?

Michael (Mick to his friends) McGuckin, a local chef and the creator of Smoke & Mirror Cakes, an online bakery specialising in Mirror cakes is working with Tryst to create exciting food combinations and recpies incorporating our range of beers.

Mick has created some wonderful dishes, this range uses Tryst’s Gingerbread Porter which readers will remember from Christmas, when our limited edition Porter was on sale.

Talking about his inspiration for the recipes Mick said, “the Plougmans lunch is a childhood memory from when I ate cheese and pickle sandwiches, when I tasted the Porter I had to bring the two together,” see the dish opposite.

Mick has also made a Mini Beef Cheek Pithiver, Piccalilli & Porter and a Porter Onion Soup with Onion Bread – both dishes are pictured below.

At Tryst we love drinking beer, we are also open to new ways of incorporating our beer into a range of dishes, new and more traditional.  You’ll also find our beer used by Findlays in Falkirk for their well known steak pie, a must try!
