Raj IPA crowned CAMRA Champion Beer of Scotland 2016
As the title has given away, we have some very exciting news. At the recent CAMRA flagship event, the Scottish Real Ale Festival, our own Raj IPA was named CAMRA Champion Beer of Scotland. This is not the first time Raj IPA has picked up awards, having been a winner in its own class on more than one occasion. However, this is the first time Raj has claimed the title of overall champion at such a prestigious event. We would like to express our thanks to all the volunteers, organisers, and drinkers at the Scottish Real Ale Festival, along with the panel of blind tasters who chose our Raj IPA out of a range of tough competition.
John McGarva, head brewer and owner here at Tryst, was over the moon and more than a little surprised at the result! As we all know, the competition in the brewing industry in Scotland has never been at such a high level, with a large number of new beers and breweries emerging almost daily. To have a beer we have been brewing, with a few tweaks, since early 2005, win such a big award a decade on shows just how the brewery is keeping its high standards at the core of what we believe in. Raj is a traditional Indian Pale Ale, for those who don’t know, this is a beer style that has been around for a very long time. Brewed with Scottish malt and English hops Raj IPA is a perfect beer for those hop lovers out there.
We have a fresh batch ready for delivery out to pubs so make sure you try a pint the next time you happen upon it. If your local isn’t stocking any make sure to contact via the website or Facebook and we’ll do our best to advise you on where you’ll be able to get your hands on the award winner!
